Orienteering festival

Despite the very wet weather, children from Years 3 and 4 enjoyed taking part in the Orienteering Festival at Trafalgar School in Downton. They learned lots of new skills and had a great day.

Hampton Court Trip

On 28th March 2012 KS2 children had a fabulous day trip to Hampton Court Palace, as part of their topic on the Tudors. It was very exciting to see at first hand some of the things they have been learning about, particularly Henry VIII and how he lived. The visit really brought the subject to life.

Tudor Assembly

Spiders class treated parents and children to a very entertaining and informative assembly on their history topic of The Tudors. Based around "Henry VIII - This is Your Life", we were introduced to Henry and his friends, including tennis partners and huntsmen, plus of course, all six of his wives!

Pets At Home Visit

The year 3/4 class had a very interesting and informative visit to Pets at Home, before deciding on the best animal to have as a class pet. The children were given the opportunity to handle and feed a variety of animals, including rabbits, guinea pigs, gerbils, bearded dragons and fish. After learning about how to care properly for the animals, it was decided that gerbils would be the best choice for our class.

As the cage that we already had was not the best sort for gerbils, Pets at Home kindly donated a Gerbilarium, which provides the ideal environment for our class pets. This was a perfect end to a very enjoyable trip and allowed the children to put into practice what they had learned about pet welfare, by providing the very best conditions.

The children would like to say a huge thank you to the staff at Pets at Home!

We also enjoyed a picnic in the park and a lovely walk back to school.
