Bikeability

Wiltshire County Council are offering "Bikeability" courses:

Summer 2012 Bikeability Levels 1 and 2 Courses at Five Rivers Leisure Centre offer a chance for children aged 10 to 12 years to  catch-up with or to extend their knowledge.  The courses are designed to give children (minimum age 10years) the skills and confidence to ride their bikes on today’s roads.

Level 1 is covered in a 'traffic-free environment’ and gives an opportunity for children to learn basic cycling skills, enabling them to make trips in traffic-free areas before proceeding onto the roads.

Level 2 is taught on quiet roads and teaches children the manoeuvres and skills necessary to be able to make journeys on minor roads, offering a real cycling experience.

Bikeability Levels 1 and 2 are taught as a 10 hour course over a two day period in the summer holidays.  Courses are taught by fully qualified and CRB checked National Standard Instructors at a ratio of one trainer to six trainees.  Dates and times are as follows:

Course 1    25th and 26th July 2012

Course 2    31st July and 1st August 2012

Course 3    8th and 9th August 2012

Cost: £10 per child per course
Times:  9.00 am to 15.30pm (includes time for lunch)
